Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service offers fire safety tips for Halloween
The Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is urging people to switch Halloween pumpkin candles out for LED lights.
"With Halloween just around the corner, we want to remind you to switch your pumpkin's candles out for LED lights," said a spokesman from the Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.
"This will prevent fires from happening during your celebrations."
"You should also only use candles when they are in a proper and secure holder.
"This is because otherwise they can easily fall over and set fire to other things in your home.
"If you have candles or tea lights burning and you need to leave the room or are going to bed, you should always extinguish them.
"Never leave them unattended.
"It can never hurt to double-check that a candle is fully out before you go to bed.
"The best way to extinguish a candle is using a snuffer.
"You might not know that doing so by simply blowing them out can be dangerous as it could send sparks or hot wax flying and cause a fire.
"It’s also important that you remember not to touch a candle while it's burning or attempt to move one, especially when the wax is in a liquid form."
