Nottinghamshire beacon relay marks 40th anniversary of u3a, with visit to Bingham
A community group is to join a county-wide beacon relay to mark its 40th anniversary.
Members of Bingham U3A will take part in the Nottinghamshire Anniversary Beacon Relay, receiving the beacon at the Buttercross, Bingham Market Square, on Tuesday, September 20, at noon.
They will then carry it to Beeston U3A the next day.
Bingham mayor Gareth Williams will open and introduce the event, with live music performed by U3A members.
The group will also be contributing to the county-wide final celebration in Nottingham in September.
The events mark the 40th anniversary of the foundation of the movement in the UK by Eric Midwinter. It aims to tackle loneliness and social isolation through a variety of fun activities and interest groups for members to get involved in.
