Beauty spot carparks targeted by thieves
Police are again warning visitors to north Nottinghamshire beauty spots to be on their guard after a spate of thefts from cars in the Sherwood area on Tuesday afternoon.
A handbag and a satellite navigation system were taken from cars parked close to Clipstone Forest, and a camera and rucksacks were stolen from a 4x4 at Sherwood Pines Forest Park at Edwinstowe.
Police are appealing for information which might identify three white males in a blue Ford Transit van seen close to one of the vehicles that was broken into near Deerdale Lane, Bilsthorpe, at around 2pm on Tuesday. The van was seen heading off in the direction of the A614.
Anyone who has seen or sees a similar van in and around those locations should telephone Nottinghamshire Police on 0300 300 99 99 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
In the meantime, car owners are advised not to leave any valuable items in their vehicles while they are left unattended.
