The Best Years Hub expanded its services across Newark and Sherwood District to Collingham, Southwell, Hawtonvile and Clipstone




The Best Years Hub offering friendship, social connection and support has expanded its services to four locations across the district.

The group is dedicated to improving the lives of those over 65 and promotes friendship, health advice, seated exercise, games and quizzes, benefits advice, day trips and help using phones and devices.

With two hubs previously operating in Hawtonville and Clipstone, it has now expanded its services to Southwell and Collingham.

Susan Collier, the liaison officer with Best Years said: “The need for social outlets along with confidence support has soared since the lockdown and we trying to reach out to anyone within this age group and help where we can.

“We also offer benefits advice and support with form filling and help with using your mobile device for digital inclusion.

“Our services are for older people over the age of 65 and free for people who fit the criteria for help.”

The hub at Hawtonvile operates at Cleveland Square Community Centre every Wednesday, with activities from 10.30am to 12.30pm and drop-in support from 12.30pm to 3pm.

At Clisptone Social Club, Clipstone Welfare provides activities every Thursday from 11am to 1pm and drop-in support from 1pm to 3pm.

In Southwell, the hub operates every Tuesday from Our Lady of Victories Church Hall on Hallam Road.

Activities happen from 1.30pm to 3.30pm and drop-in support from 3.30pm to 4.30pm.

At Collingham, the services run from William Bailey House on Windsor Close every Wednesday.

Drop-in support runs from 12.30pm to 1.30pm and activities from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
