Highfields school join 'Big Toddle' in Barnardo's fundraiser
Youngsters at Highfields school came together for a Big Toddle on Thursday as part of a Barnardo's campaign raising money for vulnerable children.
Highfield's little feet hoped to make a big difference as they toddled around their grounds in mini giraffe, ladybird and donkey costumes for the 2019 animal theme.
This year's Big Toddle week starts from June 24-30 which anyone can take part in anywhere across the country, whether it be at the Public Toddle at Dudley Zoo or taking a stroll around a local park with the family.
Adventurers and explorers from Highfields made their way around the school's woodland with parents and teachers, toddling from post to post to find out where to go next, all in the name of increasing awareness of vulnerable kids around the UK.
Emma Atkin, room manager at the pre-school, said the event showed the kids that some children are not as lucky as themselves.
She said: "An event like this really brings the kids and parents together to raise some funds for vulnerable children, which is lovely to see. We tried to help them understand that a lot of children don't have the nice things we sometimes take for granted, even the essentials.
"It's a great thing that everyone should get involved in if they can."
The fundraising initiative by Barnardo's offers people lots of free activities, resources and games that fit well into the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, providing youngsters with learning opportunities in the build up to their walk.
And with the inventive dressing up, creative arts and crafts and outdoor fun, Barnardo's said their fundraising pack "is jam-packed with ideas and tips to ensure you have a whale of a time".
