Bonfire Night and fireworks at Newark Rugby Club cancelled until next year due to persistent wet weather

Newark Rugby Club's Bonfire Night and fireworks display has been cancelled after it was rescheduled.

The event was rearranged to take place on Sunday, November 10, after November 5 was ruled out due to flooded pitches.

Now, the annual event will no longer happen as officials took the decision to cancel the night altogether after further rain over the weekend.

David Pick, the club’s Bonfire Night organiser, said: “I know our big number of regular supporters will be disappointed but the pitches are still very wet and further rain is forecasted for the week ahead.

“The event always attracts a big crowd to Kelham Road and it was felt it would be very unwise to press ahead due to the wet pitches.

“On behalf of the club, can I thank all our staff, volunteers and suppliers for their help."
