Boutique businesswomen get together to create a style hub
A group of women with busy families and working lives have got together to create a style hub for others like them.
Three boutique businesses are now running alongside one another in premises on Main Street in Balderton, offering a one-stop-shop for fashion, beauty and nails.
The three businesses — New Mode Boutique, The Retreat Hair Boutique, and Sparkle Nail Boutique — are all in the former House Of Batteries premises, almost opposite the library.
The most recent business to open there is Sparkle Nail Boutique, the village’s first nail salon, which launched on Friday.
Friends and colleagues Kimmy Greaves and Georgina Ridge had wanted to go into business together for a while.
It was when they visited the New Mode Boutique, run by Hannah Smith, that she asked if they would be interested in a vacant room.
"I believe in fate and this was our fate," said Kimmy who lives in Balderton.
The Balderton location was handy for them, with a large catchment area of clients, and plenty of free parking space available nearby.
As a busy multi-tasking mother of two children and two stepchildren, Kimmy appreciates being able to work close to home.
She said clients also loved the location, where they can shop for clothes, and have their hair and nails done all in one easily-accessible place.
“The opening night went really well — it couldn’t have gone better,” she said. "All the ladies are very happy we are here. We have been overwhelmed by the support.”
Kimmy and Georgina’s team is completed by Kayleigh Anstey.
New Mode Boutique was opened in the building by Hannah Smith earlier this year, after successfully running it online from her home.
She has three young sons and also lives in Balderton. She featured in the Advertiser last year when she styled ten models for a roadshow by television makeover maestro Gok Wan.
Fashion enthusiast Hannah started her business to share her love of fashion and offer women the latest on-trend styles at affordable prices, regardless of their shape, size or age.
She said having the three businesses under one roof benefited them all.
New Mode Boutique and Sparkle Nail Boutique are on the first floor of the building, and on the ground floor is The Retreat Hair Boutique, owned by experienced stylist Rachael Heppell.
She is joined by stylist Lucy Cook.
Rachael has 20 years’ experience as a stylist and had previously worked in Newark and from her Balderton home.
She was also customer of Hannah, and decided it made sense to join her in the premises.
"When I got the opportunity I thought it would be great. I am a Balderton girl anyway and I only live a five-minute walk away, for me, that was a massive plus point," she said.
"From the minute it was mentioned I thought it would be great to have a one-stop-shop for women.
"It has brought new clients for us, and a new service for the village, which is very friendly and accessible."
