Farndon boxer dog wins prestigious title at Crufts
A Farndon-based boxer dog breeder has found huge success at Crufts with her dogs.
Carol Murfin's seven and a half year-old boxer dog Farvalley Instant Love, known as Breeze, won Best Veteran in Breed for Boxers at the prestigious competition.
Five more of her Boxers qualified for Crufts, winning an array of titles.
Carol said: "Crufts is always magical. I took six dogs and got four placings — and the old girl won best veteran in breed.
"I've shown for years and this is the pinnacle thing really, getting best veteran in breed at Crufts."
Carol's dog Arthur, also seven and a half, came second in the veteran dog competition, whilst three-year-old Dash placed third in the postgraduate class, the biggest class of the day. Dash's podium position qualifies him for Crufts next year. He also won the Good Citizens class.
15-month-old puppy Flo came fourth in the biggest female class of the day, the Junior class.
Carol added: "We've been to Crufts many times, and we've had the odd placings but never getting the amount we did on Thursday. Obviously the biggest win was Breeze getting best veteran in breed. I've never done that before.
"You feel different when you're on the green mat and all the eyes are on you, although when you're in the ring you don't notice anything you're just so concentrated on your dog.
"You know, there's lots of other good shows but nothing beats Crufts."
Breeze was judged by breed specialist Julie Brown, of Winuwuk kennels, and her big win was an incredible moment for Carol.
She added: "I am absolutely over the moon, and when Breeze won I had tears rolling down my face.
"I'm still on cloud nine."
Carol is passionate about the boxer breed, and works for the Lincolnshire, Essex and Trent Boxer Rescue to aid the dogs she loves.
