Hardy’s Farm Shop creates new Chatter & Natter in partnership with Chatty Café Scheme
A farm shop is aiming to tackle loneliness through its brand-new Chatter & Natter Table, as the owner felt a lack of a chatty service in the area.
Holly Hardy, the owner of Hardy’s Farm Shop in Farndon, said that after seeing several customers who go into the cafe and the shop on their own, she wanted to create an opportunity for people to connect.
The new Chatter & Natter Table group, created in partnership with Chatty Café Scheme, held its first session on Wednesday (May 21).
The café will put a team member in charge of the session to help break the ice for all newcomers so that people can feel more comfortable.
The sessions will take place every Wednesday at the farm shop’s café from 2pm until 3pm and everyone is welcome regardless of age, occupation, or background.
Holly said: “I think these sorts of schemes are hugely important.
“It is something for everyone, regardless of age, and I believe that in modern-day society, there is a huge issue with loneliness.
“This will be about creating a friendly, relaxed environment for people to come and have a coffee and have a catch-up up and just chat about the week.
“We live in a busy modern world, where everything is very tech based, so I think it's about just slowing down and just having a good old nutter with people.”
People interested in taking part can turn up on the day; there are no fees or memberships to sign up for.
The initiative is part of The Chatty Café Scheme, the UK’s leading non-profit organisation aimed at tackling loneliness , which offers people a moment to get together and have a chat.
“One of my biggest joys is seeing people enjoy themselves over whether that be over coffee and cake or just having a nice chat in a relaxed atmosphere,” added Holly.
