East Markham-based Pheasantry Brewery pale ale being sold at Strangers' Bar in the House of Commons

An ale brewed at a local brewery has been served to some of the biggest names in politics.

Pale ale from East Markham-based Pheasantry Brewery is being sold at Strangers' Bar in the House of Commons.

Mark Easterbrook, brewery owner, said he was proud of the achievement and thanked Newark MP Robert Jenrick for helping to make it happen.

“We have had about three attempts at getting our beer in the House of Commons and the first two were thwarted by covid, but Robert has finally sorted it,” said Mark.

“It is great for us. The House of Commons is a huge institution and, in the grand scheme of things, we are a modest sized brewery.

“To have the likes of Boris, love him or hate him, having a pint of our beer is a nice thought.”

Mr Jenrick pulled the first pint of the Pheasantry Brewery Pale Ale at Strangers' Bar alongside Mark’s daughter Grace and her partner, Alex Smith.

“Our constituency has a great history of beer, and I was delighted to showcase this East Markham pale ale to my parliamentary colleagues from across the country and dignitaries from across the world,” said Mr Jenrick.

“In the last two years, it has been a tough time for breweries, with hospitality closures reducing demand, but I hope that now with the end of restrictions this will be a time for the hospitality industry and breweries to thrive.”
