Police are appealing for information to help find a £30,000 bronze statue, which was stolen from a garden in Cropwell Butler, near Bingham.

Thieves sawed the five-foot high water goddess, which was situated in the middle of a pond, from a metal support post sometime between 5pm Thursday and 9am Friday.

The statue was made by Laurence Broderick, who has produced well-known statues, including The Bull situated at the Bull Ring in Birmingham.

The sculpture bears the name of Laurence Broderick in the goddess’s hair.

Police would like information about anyone seen acting suspiciously in and around Cropwell Butler last week and any associated vehicles.

In addition, anyone who has either been offered the statue for sale or for scrap should call the police immediately.

Anyone with information should call Nottinghamshire Police on 0300 300 99 99 and quote incident number 000158-21012011. Alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
