Burns Night celebration at Edingley Lodge care home, Edingley, and Cherubs nursery, Edwinstowe, spans the generations
Burns Night celebrations spanned the generations as old and new celebrated the Scottish tradition.
Edingley Lodge care home, Edingley, prepared a traditional Burns Night supper to the tune of bagpipes and the fun continued well into the wee small hours.
Staff and residents learned the art of Scottish country dancing and the ceilidh as well as trying a spot of Scotch whisky tasting, reading a selection of Burns’ poems, virtual tour of the Robbie Burns Museum and dessert making by concocting a Tipsy Laird.
General nanager, Jilu Stephen said: “Burns Night is always a fantastic event at Edingley Lodge it’s so important to continue these traditions.”
Children at Cherubs Edwinstowe also marked Burns Night with a host of Scottish traditions.
They enjoyed Scottish music, made their own bagpipes and listened to poetry.
The children dressed up in tartan for the occasion and for lunch had a Scottish banquet of haggis with neeps and potatoes followed by home made shortbread biscuits.
Sarah Hickling, nursery manager, said: “We had so much fun and it was a lovely learing experince for them all.”
