Newark woman buzzing after close shave in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support
After receiving a close shave, a Newark woman is buzzing after raising money for a cancer charity.
Heidi Synott, canteen manager at Team Knowhow in Newark, took part in Macmillan Cancer Support’s Brave The Shave.
She raised £770 and broadcasted the shave on her employer’s intranet.
Heidi said she had not done something like this before but wanted to help as many people as possible in doing so.
“I haven’t done this for one person, I have done it for as many as I can," she said.
“The statistics now say that one in two people will have some form of cancer in their lifetimes, which seems crazy to me. I just wanted to do my bit.”
Reacting to her new look, Heidi said her hair will grow back in time.
“It is a lovely feeling when the wind blows but it is still a bit of a surprise when I catch a glimpse of my reflection in the mirror.
“I do not care if I look a bit strange for a while. It was an excellent way to raise the funds and I am so grateful for every person who supported me.”
