Newark Sea Cadets charity receive donation from Newark Community Soup




A charity has been given £70 towards helping young people improve their cookery skills.

Newark Sea Cadets was the chosen charity by Newark Community Soup for February.

The cadets help young people develop life skills and confidence to thrive in the world through different activities including sailing, windsurfing and rock climbing.

The charity treasurer, Diane Blackshaw said: " We intend to use towards provisions in the galley (kitchen) to assist with teaching the cadets basic food safety and working towards catering badges."

Each month, the community soup is held at Market Place providing people in town with freshly homemade soup and bread.

The £72 cheque was presented at TS Newark Castle on Sherwood Avenue.

The charity, which has been supporting children for over ten years meets weekly on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
