Landowners who could offer land to travellers are urged to contact Newark and Sherwood District Council.
Landowners in Newark and Sherwood are being urged to suggest suitable locations for new Gypsy and Traveller sites.
There is a shortage in the district, and anyone wanting their land to be considered can do so through completing Newark and Sherwood District Council’s online form.
The council is discouraging the submission of land which has been the subject of a recent dismissal at appeal and, where sites have been previously offered, it is not necessary to submit them again.
Council business manager – planning policy, Matthew Norton, said: “As part of updating the housing and employment section of this document we are not intending to identify any new allocations, other than that for Gypsy and Traveller accommodation. If you do have a site we are keen to hear from landowners. If they are not sure about submitting please give us a ring.”
The call follows a review of the council’s plans for the allocation and development of land throughout the district which is contained in its newly published Allocations & Development Management Issues Paper. The paper sets out what will be included in the final adopted plan. This can be commented upon up until 5pm on August 19, 2019.
Comments can be made by completing and returning the form by email to planningpolicy@nsdc.info or via post to Newark & Sherwood District Council - Planning Policy Business Unit, Growth & Regeneration, Castle House, Great North Road, Newark, Nottinghamshire, NG24 1BY.
A further consultation period will take place in October and November this year set. If you have any queries about the consultation please contact the Planning Policy team by telephone (01636) 650000 or by email at planningpolicy@nsdc.info
