Balderton Primary Care Centre, on Lowfield Lane, boosted by good CQC report
A doctors’ surgery in Balderton is celebrating after securing an improved CQC report from its most recent inspection.
Balderton Primary Care Centre, on Lowfield Lane, has been rated good in all five domains following a Care Quality Commission inspection in February.
These were in the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led categories.
A spokesman for the care centre, which was beset by issues at the time it was taken over, said: “This is a fantastic result with the CQC inspector highlighting the efforts of the practice team to provide effective care and treatment for patients in a kind and respective manner whilst involving them in decisions about their care.
“The report formally recognises that our staff are working really hard to deliver the best care possible for the people of Balderton and we would like to thank everyone involved.”
The CQC reported the way the practice was led and managed promoted the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care.
It read: “The practice had worked hard to address the backlogs found at the previous inspection in March 2021.
“The practice adjusted how it delivered services to meet the needs of patients during the covid-19 pandemic.
“Patients could access care and treatment in a timely way.
“The practice had recruited more staff and were in the process of actively recruiting at the time of inspection.”
While no breaches of regulations were found, the report suggested the practice should establish a patient participation group to enhance engagement, continue to take action to ensure effective monitoring of patients diagnosed with long term conditions and continue to recruit relevant staff.
One patient told the CQC the practice was by far the best they had experienced.
“I feel more then comfortable with my care and the staff that work there," they said.
“They are a truly wonderful team of GPs and I am grateful for all their hard work.”
“The app was easy to work.
“I was contacted quickly about my consultation and Dr Oke was friendly and helpful.
“It made going to the doctors an easy and pleasant experience.”
