Celebrating country life

Horse-drawn ploughs, horticultural exhibits and a dog show will be among attractions at Southwell Ploughing Match and Show today.

The show, at Carr Banks Farm, Farnsfield, will have the theme Country Life At It’s Best to celebrate the show’s award by Country Life Magazine as The Country Life Event of The Year.

There will be four horse-show rings, a ring for showjumping, a ring for cattle, sheep and livestock, and one for shire horses.

Entertainment in the main ring will include Jive Pony, a female equestrian team who mix equestrian skills with music from West End musicals.

There will be more than 100 trade stands, a farmers’ market with over 30 stands, and a marquee to display the entries from the horticultural and domestic classes.
