Winners chosen at Sherwood Forest NHS Trust’s Staff Excellence Awards — Newark theatre team received Sean Lyons' Cup
Medical staff who go above and beyond for their patients were rewarded for their efforts.
The Sherwood Forest NHS Trust’s Staff Excellence Awards were held on Friday at the John Fretwell Sporting Complex in Mansfield.
The winners were chosen from more than 500 nominees that patients, visitors and the public felt had gone the extra mile during their care or the care of a loved one at King’s Mill, Mansfield Community, or Newark hospitals.
The winners were chosen by members of the board of directors, Foundation Trust governors, Staff Side representatives, representatives from the media, patients and staff.
The winners were a mix of teams and individuals, with Denise Davies, sister on Minster Ward, winning the aspiring and improving category.
Denise was presented with the award after her tireless work campaigning for cancer patients to be able to access specialist support at Newark Hospital, rather than travelling to King’s Mill.
The Minster Ward team also won the team award — the Kate Granger Award for Respectful and Caring — for promoting a good working atmosphere and providing support.
Newark theatre team received the Sean Lyons’ Cup for most improved team, and were highly commended in the Chairman’s Award.
Specialist occupational therapist at Newark, Dionne Archer, won the efficient and safe category for going above and beyond by delivering equipment to patients’ homes to ensure they have a safe environment after they have been discharged.
Assistant chief operating officer for Newark Hospital, Ant Rosevear, said: “We were so pleased to have so many nominations for Newark Hospital this year and to get this recognition from both staff and patients is fantastic.
“I am really proud of all the teams and individuals who were nominated.
“It’s brilliant that some of our staff and teams were winners of these awards.
“It really does mean a lot to all of the staff involved that they have been recognised for their hard work and dedication.
“Well done to everyone.”
