It aims to raise money for Reach, which has bases in Southwell, Newark and Mansfield that helps people with learning difficulties.

Early-bird entry prices are available until a week today — children (15 and under) £5, adults £10. A child entry will then cost £6.50, adults £12.

Organisers said the course was family friendly and participants could run, jog or walk through the park.

Carol singers and hot-chocolate stops will be along the fun run route, and there will be a Santa’s grotto at the finish line.

Participants are expected to raise a minimum of £10 sponsorship and prizes will be awarded for the best-dressed adult, best-dressed child and best-dressed dog. All entrants will receive a free medal, mince pie and Santa suit.
