Charity shop White Rose, which has store on Bridge Street, opens second Newark shop on Stodman Street

A business has opened the doors to its second store in Newark this morning (Monday).

Charity shop White Rose, which has a store on Bridge Street, has opened its pop-up market on Stodman Street after having some technical difficulties over the weekend.

It fills what was the former Monsoon unit, one of the larger retail spaces in the town centre.

The White Rose Pop-Up Market hopes to deliver brand names at an even better price than its standard store.

Regional Manager of White Rose, Harriet Dibble, said: “We are very excited to be opening our second shop in Newark, we have had a tremendous amount of donations over the last eight months which has given us the opportunity to open this new shop.

"This shop is slightly different to our other shops in that it is a Pop Up Market, where you’ll find some amazing brands at even better price.

“(We) cannot wait to see our regular White Rose shoppers as well as welcoming new shoppers too.”

Keith Girling, economic development committee chairman, said: "I can confirm that a new retailer has recently moved into the premises located at 34 Stodman Street, Newark. This property was previously home to Monsoon.

"It’s encouraging to see that despite the difficult times we have had this year a landowner and tenant have worked together to fill a vacancy on the high street with the pop-up retail shop, White Rose.

“Ensuring we fill a vacancy in what have been extremely difficult times is a credit to the landowner and retailer. I am keen for residents to shop locally for their Christmas presents this year to help boost our local economy.

"I want to take the opportunity to remind everyone about the retail assurance scheme we have in place across the district, ensuring retailers are able to display a poster in their shop windows if they adhere to guidance set out by the government. It is important to stay safe, shop locally and support Newark and Sherwood.”
