Salvation Army Shop on Brisbane Court, Balderton to open for its first-ever Saturday
A charity shop that also serves as a meeting place and social hub for the community will be opening its doors for its first-ever Saturday.
The Salvation Army Charity Shop on Brisbane Court, Balderton, will be open this Saturday (June 21) for the first time and the team is hoping to be able to do so for the foreseeable future.
The shop, run by volunteers, will be open from 9am until 1pm.
Lynn Hobbs is a volunteer at the shop alongside her husband John Hobbs, and said to be “very excited” about the shop opening on a Saturday, as it is a busier time and there are more families and children out.
There will also be cake and sweets available to buy at the shop this Saturday.
“We tried to kick it off on a Saturday about a year ago, but it didn’t go ahead,” Lynn said, “Now there is a new captain for the Salvation Army and a new manager, and they were very supportive of the idea.
“This is one of our ways of giving it back to the community.”
