Children at a Bingham day nursery visited one of the town’s bottle banks as part of a month-long project on recycling and the environment.

The youngsters at Serendipitys on Nottingham Road are being taught about the importance of recycling and how it can help prevent global warming.

Three children visited the bottle banks in Newgate Street carpark to recycle glass bottles they had collected.

A nursery teacher, Mrs Sarah Ebb, is leading the sessions about the environment.

She said the children had made dustbins from cardboard boxes and were collecting more items that could be recycled.

Mrs Ebb wants to try to cover as many areas as possible.

For example, she is organising for the children to visit a zoo so they can see animals and learn about the detrimental effects climate change would have on their natural habitats.

In the coming weeks will teach the children how to save water, electricity and heat.
