Pre-loved children's clothing business Ciaran's Cupboard moves into first shop in Newark
A pre-loved children’s clothing business supporting parents of premature babies is expanding into it’s first shop.
Ciarán’s Cupboard, run by Sarah Massey, is moving into a shop space on Cartergate, Newark.
It was previously as an online enterprise only.
The shop will open from tomorrow at 10am. The launch event will involve nibbles, drinks and a balloon arch.
Sarah said: “It’s a lovely, really nice space. It’s just amazing.
“Everyone who knows me knows I’ve waited so long for this.
“It is the start of growing the business, which has been my dream.”
The shop, above the Nifty Gift and Wedding shop, will sell Sarah’s range of pre-loved children’s clothing, accessories and books.
Profits from the sales go to her initiative Ciarán’s Bags.
These are care packages for families admitted to neonatal intensive care units with premature or ill babies at Queen's Medical Centre and City Hospital, Nottingham.
It is a cause close to Sarah’s heart as two of her children were born premature.
She added: “We want to get the bags in as many hospitals as possible.
“But to do that we have to grow the business side of things.”
The shop space was offered to Sarah by the Nifty Gift and Wedding Shop.
The Nifty Gift and Wedding Shop is also helping to produce the bags.
The expansion is a big change for the business.
Sarah hopes it will encourage many new customers.
“I’m the kind of person who likes to see things before I buy,” she said.
“With children’s clothes especially it’s nice to see them.
“The sizes can vary so much.
“The shop will allow me to be face-to-face.
“I can meet people and help them find what they need.”
The launch day will also see the clothes on sale.
Plans are in the works for clothing rental and swapping schemes to help customers as the cost of living crisis takes hold.
Sarah is also aiming to register Ciarán’s Bags as a charity.
More than 40 bags have been recently delivered to the Nottingham hospitals.
