East Midlands Classic Vehicle Club displays vehicles in Newark Market Place

STUNNING motor cars, both new and very old, were on show over the weekend in Newark town centre.

More than 100 cars were displayed by East Midlands Classic Vehicle Club in the Market Place on Sunday.

There was a huge variety of classic cars, ranging in age from just eight years old to more than 100.

The best car in show trophy was awarded to Helen Wainwright for her Lanchester Daimler.

Club chairman and founder Mr Alan Birkitt said: “We had a great day. I would like to say thank you to everyone who came and also donated money.”

The event was a fundraiser for Prostate Cancer Research , and a raffle raised £135 for the charity.

The oldest car at the show was a 1914 Model T Ford, owned by Ralph Kemp, of Lincoln, who bought the car from Florida ten years ago and spent two years restoring it to its former glory.

The club holds its next event in Newark on Sunday August 4, at Sconce and Devon Park, from 10am to 4pm.
