Newark Co-op workers left shaken after being physically attacked




Newark Co-op workers were left shaken after being physically assaulted on the job.

Two suspects are believed to have been involved in the assault at the Lincoln Road Co-op at 11.40am on Tuesday last week.

The two members of staff suffered minor injuries and were left feeling shaken after the attack, where the suspects then drove off in a van.

Police are now appealing for anyone with information to get in touch with them.

Inspector Matthew Ward, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers were called to reports of a disturbance in the Lincolnshire Co-op store in Lincoln Road, Newark, at around 11.40am on Tuesday.

“It was reported that two staff members were physically assaulted during the incident. They suffered minor injuries but were left shaken by what happened.

“Officers quickly arrived on scene and searched the area for two suspects believed to be involved in the incident. Our inquiries are ongoing to trace these men and a van they left in.

“Nottinghamshire Police treats all reports of assaults and violence seriously and will always do everything in its power to bring those responsible to justice.

“I’d urge anyone who was in the area around this time and may have information which could help us with our investigation to please get in touch with us.”
