The father of an 18-year-old girl who died after a car accident is to run 630 miles in her memory.

Mr Phil Sturgeon, 42, of Main Street, Burton Joyce, will complete the South-West Coastal Path by running the equivalent of a marathon a day for 24 days in memory of his daughter, Hollie Sturgeon. She died when the car she was driving left the A17 near Fulbeck after a collision with another car in January.

The challenge starts on April 26 in Minehead and will take him through Devon and Poole finally finishing at Poole Harbour in Dorset. Much of the going is tough and he will be running for about eight hours a day.

He will carry his tent, sleeping bag, supplies and a stove and will be joined at times by friends who have said they will run part of the route with him.

Mr Sturgeon will be raising money for Neurocare, a charity which raises money to buy equipment of the Neurosciences Department at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield.
