Newark Co-op awards local charity large donation from community fund
A MENTAL health charity was given a donation to support its work in helping people with mental health issues in Newark.
The Shaw Mind Foundation received £8,918,00 from Beacon Hill Co-op, Newark.
The Newark Co-op store combined its fundraising with the Southwell store and donated the money to three charities.
Shaw Mind Foundation manager Su Hallum said: “We are honoured to have been chosen as a beneficiary of the Co-op’s Community Fund and very grateful for the generosity of our community.”
The charity will put the donation towards mental health projects in Newark including the newly- opened Breathe hub at a board game cafe in the town centre and is seen as a safe space for anyone. It is free of charge.
Su added: “The money will go a long way to continuing and developing the much-needed qualitative service that the Shaw Mind Foundation on provides in Newark and the surrounding areas.”
The other charities to receive donations from the Co-op Community Fund were Beaumond House Community Hospice, Newark, and Citizens Advice Bureau Newark and Sherwood.
