Community heroes sought

Nottinghamshire residents benefiting from volunteers who give up their time to help make the community safer are being urged to put names forward for a prestigious award.

The closing date for nominations for this year’s Nottinghamshire Police Jean Varnam is September 14.

Anyone who knows of a volunteer who they feel deserves this award should send their nomination in.

The award will be presented on October 5 as part of the Chief Constable’s Commendation Evening.

The award will be presented to a volunteer, or team of volunteers, who have been involved in an outstanding initiative or piece of work in relation to community safety which has had a positive effect on the quality of life in the local community.
