Historic Newark in Bloom organises litter picking as part of Keep Britain Tidy campaign
A community gardening scheme is organising a litter picking to beauty the town and have pride in its community.
As part of the Keep Britain Tidy campaign, Historic Newark in Bloom has made three dates in March and April to pick litter across the town.
Together with the canal and river trust, the group will also be weeding and planting on the outside of the lock by the Swan and Salmon on Castlegate, Newark.
With eight people turning up on March 22, the chairman of Historic Newark in Bloom Kay Bellhouse is hoping that the following events on April 4 and 5 will see the same number of people if not more.
Anyone who wants to join the event from 10am to noon needs to bring gloves and a trowel if they have them. The rest of the litter picking equipment is provided by Newark and Sherwood District Council.
Anyone younger than 16 needs to be accompanied by an adult.
