Newark and Sherwood District Council's community lottery offers a chance to win big whilst supporting good causes
More than £26,000-worth of prizes will be given out as part of the community lottery.
Newark and Sherwood District Council has a community lottery where residents can win prizes while supporting local good causes.
There are weekly cash prizes, £1,000 of Decathlon vouchers and a £25,000 jackpot to be won.
Tim Wendels, chairman of the council’s homes and communities committee, said: “Recent months, more than ever, have proven the vital role that charities, voluntary and community groups play in supporting people, communities and shaping places.
“This lottery is a means of enabling charities to raise funds and to develop an income while ensuring financial support for a sector that is closest to our communities and their needs.”
Tickets cost £1 for a weekly Saturday night draw and residents can choose which local group they want their money to go to. More than 50 groups have signed up.
For every ticket sold 60p goes to one of the local causes, 20p goes to the prize fund and the rest is for running costs and VAT.
Players will have a 50 to 1 chance of winning one of the prizes.
You can purchase tickets on the Newark and Sherwood Community Lottery website.
