People in Newark and surrounding areas such as Swinderby and Collingham report issues with EVRI deliveries

People in and around Newark say they have been waiting weeks for parcels from courier EVRI.

From Newark town centre to Swinderby, Collingham and many other areas, households are receiving messages saying their address is inaccessible or are waiting over 10 days for their next-day deliveries.

Neither customers or retailers say they are able to contact EVRI over their issues.

Louise Cummings said: “I personally am shielding due to my husband's health and am relying on on-line shopping for Christmas presents, which now won't arrive in time.

“There must be many others in the same or worse situations.

“People are relying on this service as they have done for years but with postal strikes and greed, EVRI are not only unable to deliver but unable/unwilling to help or even tell the truth about the reason for none delivery.

“They have apparently taken on Royal Mail's parcel deliveries as well, making it impossible to provide a service.

“Retailers are telling me that they too have no way of contacting them and can only rely on an email enquiry they send, which is invariably ignored or at best, updated with the same lies the customer is being told.”

In a similar situation, Adie Bedford was expecting his parcels to be delivered by EVRI three weeks ago.

He said: “I’ve been waiting for over two weeks, one said it was delivered but I never received it.

“I got a replacement which was apparently handed to me but yesterday but was out for delivery again, which never came.”

Adie’s parcel was delivered near someone’s bin, in a place that Adie described as “I don’t even know where that is.”

The number of delays and complaints has been witnessed on a national level.

An EVRI spokesperson said: “We are sorry that some customers in the local area are experiencing short delays in receiving their parcels.

“This is due to a number of factors including Black Friday volumes.

“Our local team is working hard to address this and to deliver any delayed parcels over the next few days. We thank everyone for their patience and understanding.”
