ClubYouth, a new youth club opening in Newark, aims to give youngsters a safe and sociable space

A new youth club opening in Newark soon aims to give youngsters a safe and sociable space to meet and enjoy themselves.

ClubYouth was the idea of mother Lisa Springhall-Wilson, who said she had realised there was a lack of cool, fun and safe facilities for youngsters in the area.

“The idea of ClubYouth came from my own memories and experiences as a teen in my town of Hucknall, where I attended a similar event called The Youth House and found it a great way to make friends, be safe, off the streets, but have a whole lot of fun at the same time,” she said.

“It became clear that my memories of the teen night club I attended would certainly work for today’s youth and so here we are today with the first two launch events coming soon.”

Children in school years nine, ten and 11 will have their launch night on Thursday, December 5, and those in years seven and eight on Thursday, December 12.

Lisa said: “I have worked super-hard in creating a real night club vibe, including a professional club DJ, mocktail menu and soft drinks bar, huge selfie stand, and a neon face artist — not to mention the cake and ice cream bar.”

The events will be held at a new venue for Newark, also launching soon, called Madisons gin bar and nightlub, on Cartergate.

Tickets for the ClubYouth launch nights cost £5 and must be bought in advance from Happy Sundaes on Kirkgate, Newark.

They can also be bought at Jenny’s cafe on London Road.

Lisa said: “To purchase a ticket you will need to show the staff there an official school planner.

“This is just a security measure, as we want to keep our children safe. Other forms of ID can be arranged if needed.

“I will hopefully get the kids on board and out of their bedrooms.”
