Clean-up work going ahead after unauthorised Traveller encampment leaves Collis Close park, Newark

A play area is being cleaned up by a council after an unauthorised Traveller encampment left the site.

A large number of caravans pulled up on Collis Close play area, land owned by Nottinghamshire County Council, over the weekend.

The encampment has now (April 17) left the site, off Beacon Hill, and Newark and Sherwood District Council’s teams are asking members of the public to remain off the park this morning while it is cleaned up.
