Newark and Sherwood District Council investigate flytipping waste that includes Evans Halshaw dealership customer documentation

A council is investigating after a large amount of waste that includes identifiable customer paperwork from a motor dealership was illegally dumped on a lane.

The waste on Hollowdyke Lane at Fernwood was discovered by a dog walker on Saturday and is made up of tyres, oil drums, a sofa, a fridge, cabinets and MOT and registration paperwork from the Evans Halshaw Lincoln Ford dealership in which customer information such as names, contact numbers and car registrations are intact and clearly visible.

Susan Wright, who discovered the waste, put the appearance of the waste down to simple greed.

"It's definitely on the increase," she said.

"Some people blame the cost of disposal of commercial waste but I believe it's just down to greed.

"People pay an agent to take away their waste and believe it is being disposed of properly, but then it gets dumped in a field.

"Every time I come across it, I take photos and report it.

"Everyone should do the same rather than just moan about it.

"It doesn't always take Sherlock Holmes to work out where it has come from, like in this instance.

"It will be interesting to see what the dealership says.

"Anyone who sees published pictures can probably identify their stuff and should know who they asked to get rid of it.

"The problem with these flytippers is that once they have identified a place it becomes a favourite spot.

"To be fair to the council, every time I do report it, it is cleared."

A spokesperson for Evans Halshaw said: "Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we are fully committed to the privacy of our customers information and do not take this matter lightly.

"We are investigating the situation and liaising with the local authority and our waste disposal suppliers."
