Councillor steps down from Bingham Town Council
A fifth independent councillor has stepped down from Bingham Town Council in the space of two months.
Mrs Alison Langford, who was elected to the council in May, 2015, quit the authority today.
It comes four days after the resignation of Mr Alan Harvey, who was Mayor of Bingham.
His former deputy, Mrs Tracey Kerry, former planning committee chairman Mr Kevin Hayes-Heath and councillor Mrs Elizabeth Hutchison have also left the authority.
The resignations leave the council with four Conservatives and five Independents, with five vacant positions.
A by-election to fill three of the vacancies, two for Bingham West ward and one for Bingham East, will be held on November 16.
Further by-elections to fill the other two vacancies could be held if at least ten electors in Bingham request them.
