Newark town council councillors to be issued official email addresses

A council has voted in favour of creating official email addresses for members with a cost of over £50 for each.

At a meeting of Newark Town Council, members debated the creation of a council email address to be publicly shared, considering cost and use implications.

Each email address would cost £52 a year for each account.

"I think it is a waste of money, I am not willing to use a third email address because I already have two,” said a member, Paul Taylor.

“I think it is just incurring cost when some members don’t want it.”

Mathew Skinner who was in favour of the creation of email suggested that the members who do not wish to have a new email address, be posted a first-class printout.
