Court: Twelve month community order issued over assault




AN 18-YEAR-OLD woman who admitted assault has been sentenced to a 12 month community order that includes rehabilitation.

Leila Kerr, of Victoria Street, Newark was also fined £100 and ordered to pay an identical sum in compensation to her female victim.

Kerr was subject to a conditional discharge for an offence of burglary whereby she had entered a property with the intent to cause damage at the time she re-offended.

Her community order includes re-sentencing for that offence.

Kerr also had costs of £85 awarded against her.

A SHOPLIFTER who stole goods worth £33 from Asda Newark was conditionally discharged for six months.

Julia Wright, 29, of Winston Court, Newark, admitted theft and was told to pay £105 in costs from the benefits she receives.

A MAN who stole a Help for Heroes charity box and went on damaged a window at a pub was sentenced to a community order.

Robert Gladwin, 34, admitted theft and damaging a window at The Wolds Public House, Loughborough Road, West Bridgford.

Gladwin, of Bramble Way, Cotgrave, was sentenced to a six month community order that has a requirement for treatment for a drug dependency.

He was also fined £10 and told to pay the pub £268 compensation.

A MAN who damaged a family member's lifeline wristband was sentenced to unpaid work and issued with a restraining order preventing him from contacting him in the future.

Such a wristband offers 24 hour support and reassurance for elderly and disabled people.

Keith Harrison, 51, admitted criminally damaging the band at an address in Cropwell Bishop.

Harrison had denied what he had done but changed his plea to one of guilty.

He also admitted resisting a police officer in the execution of his duty as part of the incident.

Harrison, of Derwent Close, Bordon, Hampshire, was sentenced to a 12 month community order with 150 hours of community service.

The restraining order means he cannot contact the victim in the case, directly or indirectly, for two years.

Harrison must pay £405 costs.

A GROWER of cannabis was also conditionally discharged at the Nottingham court.

Cordell Wray, of Grantham Road, Radcliffe, admitted producing four plants at an address in Cotgrave.

He was told to pay £105 in costs from his benefits.
