237 new coronavirus cases reported in Newark and Sherwood over the Christmas period (Monday, December 27) according to Public Health England




A total of 237 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Newark and Sherwood, since Christmas Eve, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

It takes the total number of cases in the district since the start of the pandemic to 21,949.

The total number of cases recorded in Nottinghamshire, excluding the city, now stands at 156,899, up 1,776 on the previous day.

There have been 24,280 cases in Ashfield (up 224) Bassetlaw 21,783 (up 169) Broxtowe 20,896 (up 287) Gedling 23,464 (up 355) Mansfield 21,259 (up 198) Rushcliffe 23,070 (up 306) and Nottingham city 67,772 (up 829).

In the last seven days there have been 1,096 positive cases recorded in Newark and Sherwood, which is up 47 cases on the previous seven days.

In the latest 24-hour period, there has been a new death reported in Newark and Sherwood within 28 days of the person testing positive for the virus, taking the total to 246.

According to the latest public data, 11,891,292 (up 121,371) patients in the UK have tested positive and 147,857 (up 137) people have died within 28 days of positive test.

The number of people vaccinated with the first dose up to December 23 is 51,649,696 (up 32,605) the number with the second dose is 47,254,099 (up 44,046) and the booster 32,290,487 (up 605,561).
