A 14-year-old girl was taken to hospital following a collision on the A1 this morning which closed both carriageways.

A Peugeot 308 and a Volvo lorry collided on the northbound carriageway at around 4.50am between Marston and Foston.

The 14-year-old girl from Sheffield, who was travelling with her father in the Peugeot, was taken to Lincoln County Hospital with a cut to her eye. She is in a stable condition.

Debris from the collision fell onto the southbound carriageway, which was re-opened soon after the incident.

A diversion was put in place on the northbound carriageway from Barrowby onto the A52 and the A46 before rejoining the A1 at Newark.

The carriageway was due to be re-opened this morning.
