Crash victim named

The victim of a fatal crash in Newark has been named.

Craig Cooke, 25, of Whitley Bay, Newcastle, was fatally injured when his car, a Citroen Picasso, was in collision with a Ford Fiesta in Beacon Hill Road at about 11pm on Monday December 23 2013.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or who saw a black Ford Fiesta and a gold coloured Vauxhall Corsa being driven immediately before or earlier that evening is asked to contact the force’s Crash Investigation Unit on 101 ext 2225 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Three people arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving have been released.

Two women, aged 22 and 18 have been released with no further action while a 20-year-old man has been bailed pending further enquiries.
