Man, 24, arrested after young child found abandoned on corner of Parliament Street, Newark

A young child was abandoned on a street corner on Thursday afternoon.
The infant, who could be as young as one, was reportedly found in tears.
A man was allegedly seen running away from the boy on Parliament Street in Newark at around 2.15pm.
Police responded to the incident and took the child into safety. He is now safe and well.
A 24-year-old man was later arrested in connection with the incident.
