The Tapathon took place at the Palace Theatre, Newark.

School principal and teacher Charlotte Hudson said: “It’s lovely seeing our dancers on the stage together, with the range of ages and abilities coming together to fundraise for such an important cause.”

The project is run by The Performers Project and the record is to try and get the most people dancing the same tap routine simultaneously countrywide.

Dancers at The Charlotte Hudson School of Dance are still waiting to hear if the world record has been broken.

In addition, 184 students from the age four to 17, took IDTA exams in ballet, tap, theatrecraft and acro dance, achieving merits and distinctions.
