Design selected for Southwell's new skatepark
The preferred design for a town's new skatepark has been selected.
After consulting with the Southwell community and the skatepark user group to determine which of the two designs was preferred for the Park Lane site, a decision has been made.
Southwell Town Council unanimously voted in favour of selecting design B as the preferred bidder and to submit the application to the December grant-aid round.
Design B includes quarterpipes, stairs, ledges and a bowl corner with feature pool steps.
The design was chosen based on criteria including engagement, detail of the submission, versatility, quality guarantee and the maintenance schedule.
The council plans to secure the funding for the project, through the December grant-aid round and a further bid submitted by Alison Berwick for up to £100,000 for the work, before offering a contract for the construction of the skatepark.
A more detailed plan is also required for the bids to be made, at a cost of £1,800.
