Bakkavor Desserts recognises hundreds of colleagues for their long service to the business

Hundreds of employees were rewarded and recognised for their long service to a food business.

Bakkavor Desserts recognised 234 Newark colleagues for their loyalty and commitment to the business for between five and 30-year terms.

Five colleagues have been congratulated for 30 years of service which tones with the business Newark branch's 30-year anniversary.

The long-serving Newark colleagues were invited to celebratory lunch events, each colleague receiving a certificate, an anniversary bottle of prosecco and some chocolates.

Colleagues also received two thank you vouchers including a Love2Shop voucher during the actual month of their special milestone and a thank you voucher from £75 up to £450 based on their length of service.

Andrjez Szokalski, general manager of operations at Bakkavor Desserts Newark said: “Celebrating long service is something we take seriously at Bakkavor. The sheer number of Newark colleagues hitting a long service milestone meant this year we had to run five separate celebratory events! In the year when we celebrate 30 years of business in Newark, it’s also very special for us that five colleagues who joined us on day one are still with us today.”

The Newark branch will support two local food banks that the business adopted as charity of the year at the King's School and Barnby Road School.

A Halloween bake sale and sponsored walk inclusive of all Bakkavor colleagues will raise funds for these charities.

The Newark site opened for business in 1993, starting its life as Laurens Patisseries and Bakkavor acquired the enterprise in 2006.

Bakkavor Desserts Newark is the largest chilled desserts factory in Europe and, for more than 25 years, has been well-established in the local community.

The Newark team creates over 3 million desserts every week including eclairs, doughnuts, trifles and tarts.
