Detectives seek potential witness in rail death
Detectives from British Transport Police are appealing for help to trace a man who was captured on CCTV near to Newark railway station.
Officers investigating the death of Network Rail worker John Wright, who was struck by a train outside the station, believe the man may have information which could assist their investigation into his death.
Mr Wright was hit by a train 11.39am on Wednesday, 22 January. He was airlifted to hospital where he sadly died in hospital two days later.
Detective Inspector Stuart Mellish said: “We don’t believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding John’s death, but we are conducting a thorough investigation into the events that led up to him being hit by the train and are trying to piece together all the information possible.
“The man in the photo was captured on CCTV close to the location where John was struck.
“We have already spoken to a number of witnesses but would like to trace this man who may have important information about what happened to John immediately before the accident.”
