Dennis and Brenda Drabble tied the knot at St John the Baptist’s Church, Collingham, in 1959
A loving husband and wife have celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Dennis, 86, and Brenda Drabble, 83, tied the knot at St John the Baptist’s Church, Collingham, in 1959 and have not looked back since.
They marked their diamond anniversary with a party thrown by son Neil Drabble and daughter Julia Sheppard at The Royal Oak, Collingham, where they had their wedding reception 60 years ago.
The pair were also sent a letter from the Queen and hosted an open house event for friends to visit and celebrate.
Neil said his parents’ marriage had lasted so long because they were from a time when couples worked through everything.
“My dad has got dementia but is still quite with it and gets quite emotional about my mum,” said Neil.
“He said getting married was the best thing he ever did. Whether it was getting through unemployment or money difficulties, they always stuck by each other and worked through it all.
“My parents enjoy each other and their lives. I am proud to be their son because I am who I am because of them.”
