Newark and Sherwood District Council are warning residents against a new text message scam.

Newark and Sherwood District Council are making people aware of a new council tax refund scam circulating in Newark.

A number of residents have reported that they have been contacted by fraudsters, using gov.uk branding in text messages stating that they are due a council tax refund, followed by a link they need to click on to claim the refund.

NSDC are urging residents not to reply, click on any links or disclose bank account details or any other personal information if contacted by anyone offering such a service, as it is a scam.
