District is swine flu hot-spot

Rushcliffe was yesterday named as a swine flu hot-spot.
The Department of Health designated it as a hotspot, with Nottingham city, Gedling, Browtowe, and Hucknall, after a rise in the number of cases.
It means medical officers will now concentrate on treating suspected victims instead of trying to prevent the spread of the disease with anti-viral drugs.
In a joint statement, NHS Nottingham City and NHS Nottinghamshire County said: “While containment has worked very well in its early stages, we have been clear all along that it was highly likely that we would be unable to prevent the spread of swine flu indefinitely.”
