DJ Jerome Fox is hosting the celebration of his 50th year at Newark Showground in November

A popular DJ is celebrating half a century of bringing music to people’s lives.

Jerome Fox, 68, of Newark, will mark his DJ milestone by bringing together all of his family, friends and colleagues, both past and present, for a celebratory disco event next month.

He started out as a DJ when he was 18, back in 1968, as a hobby, playing at various events for local businesses and charities.

Since then, he has raised thousands of pounds for local good causes, as he always donates his profits to local good causes.

One of his first major gigs was a miner’s welfare event in Bilsthorpe, and over the years he has played at events all over Nottinghamshire, including the Reindeer Inn at Southwell, the former Brackenhurst College, Kelham Hall and Newark Showground.

Jerome said: “I have done so many events over the years, it is hard to just pick one.

“People have been so good to me. All I have wanted is to give people a good time.”

Tickets for the event cost £15, and are available by visiting Newark Disco’s website at https://billetto.co.uk/e/50-years-of-music-tickets-360127

Jerome added that he has no plans to retire and will keep DJing for as long as he can.
