Pictures reveal horrors of A1 crash where driver was 'extremely lucky' not to come off worse
Pictures have revealed the horrors of a crash on the A1 earlier today.
One of the drivers involved is said to have been incredibly lucky not to have come off worse.
You can see the front of one of the lorries involved was completely crushed in the crash.
The ambulance service and police were called to the two-lorry incident at Markham Moor at around 10.40am, along with fire crews from Tuxford and Retford.
Leigh Holmes, district manager for Newark and Sherwood at Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: "I attended an RTC earlier this morning on the A1 with crews from Tuxford, Retford, EMAS and Notts Police.
"The driver was extremely lucky to escape with only minor injuries."
The fire service said: "Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on the A1, north of Markham Moor. Crews used a water tender ladder, and rescue tender to make the vehicles and scene safe.
"All persons were released before we arrived at the scene. We left the incident by 11:41am, after handing over to the police."
